Holy Angels' College (formerly Holy Angels' Academy) is a private school located in Pandi, Philippines. Established in 1951, the school offers elementary and secondary education. Most of the professionals of the town are alumni of the school. Holy Angels' Academy was renamed as Holy Angels' College (Bulacan) Incorporated in 2007.
Historical background[edit]
The idea of having a secondary school in Pandi has long been cherished by its residents. In fact, it was felt that because most inhabitants of this small farming community were poor, only few could afford to send their children to nearby towns or Manila to pursue high school education which was then not available in Pandi. Thus, only a handful of residents were able to continue their studies and become professionals. It has been established as a fact that from this lowly town, many bright boys and girls would seek to study for higher levels as self-supporting or working students provided they have the opportunity to finish high school with minimum expense from their parents.
From the town's urgent and vital need, a group of concerned and civic minded citizens joined forces and organized Holy Angels' Academy. Dr. Maria Santos-Galvez, an active medical practitioner and President of the Pandi Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association together with Atty. Ciriaco C. Santos, a young enterprising civic leader spearheaded this noble task. The school started operations in June 1951 and subsequently obtained Government Recognition in 1957.
At the start, the group was faced with a number of problems. There was no site nor building. The corporation being new and not in a position to put up its own building decided to rent a four-room apartment of the Pandi Recreation Center from the Ramirez Family of Bocaue. The school occupied these premises until 1953.
The incorporators were able to purchase land which became the new site of the present campus. A new school building was constructed from the proceeds of a loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines plus added equity from the business partners. The school in its new premises slowly and gradually increased its enrolment and the physical plant was continuously improved. The graduates proved themselves equal to the challenges of the times. Outstanding and successful alumni who take pride in their beloved Alma Mater, Holy Angels' Academy are now spread in all sectors of society here and abroad.
A sad note however took place in February 1971 when the school building was burned. The challenge of re-building was hurdled when a wooden two story building was put up. In 2009, a completely concrete three story building with rooftop was erected. The school prides itself in being one of the town's landmarks.
After fifty (50) years, the corporate life of Holy Angels' Academy ended so the School Trustees applied at the Securities & Exchange Commission for incorporation and changed its name to Holy Angels' College (Bulacan), Inc. which was approved on October 18, 2002. The name change from Academy to College was in line with the school's expansion program to include tertiary education.
In its more than sixty (60) years of existence, the school has upheld its commitment to mold and produce better citizens in our town. Holy Angels' Academy has trained almost all professionals of Pandi. A great number of them are successful in their chosen fields of endeavor. It is now honestly felt that the ultimate goals for which the school was nobly organized by the founders have been well met and are continuously being realized.
Now at the helm are the second generation of Santoses led by Mrs. Carmina G. Esperanza as chairwoman with Mrs. Mercedes S. Coloma as Vice Chairwoman. Together with Mr. Jesus L. Santos, Mr. Victor Luis S. Galvez and Engr. Jaime R. Esperanza, they comprise the board of trustees.
In 2013, the school received the DepEd Recognition Award as High Performing Private Secondary School, the only private high school in Pandi to be honored as NAT Achiever. The recognition is given to schools who garner high mean percentage scores in the National Achievement Test for graduating students. (Gr. 6 & 4th year High School). In line with the Department of Education's mandate to implement the K to 12 Program (Grades 11 and 12), our school applied and was granted Senior High School Permit No. 689 s. 2016.
