Hosni Zaghdoudi (18 March 1973) is a Tunisian journalist, sports commentator and program presenter. He is a graduate of the Institute of Journalism and News Sciences, an audiovisual major. His career in the world of media and sports began in 1994 when he worked as a volunteer for the organizing committee of the African Nations Cup for Football - the Media Committee (Tunisia 1994), and worked as a journalist in charge of the Department of Relations with the Foreign Press and the Internet, the Department of Tunisian Satellite Programming (1997-2001), and a journalist for the Sports Authority. (2001-2006), before moving to Dubai Sports Channel as an anchor for its most prominent programs in August 2006.

He practised sports media, commenting and then presenting programs within the Tunisian Radio and Television Corporation in its various channels between 1994 and 2006, and he worked at Channel 21 Youth Radio, Tunisia 7 (Al-Watania 1) and Dubai Sports, in addition to being assigned to the "Unified Commentators Team" of the Arab States Broadcasting Union.

He has commented and presented special programs and studios for four African Cup of Nations football championships, two European Cups, 4 World Cups of football, Argentine First Division football programs, Copa America tournaments, and the German football league "Bundesliga".

Career[edit]

Zaghdoudi started his media career in 1994 when he served as a youth volunteer in the organizing committee for the 1994 African Cup of Nations.

Tunisian television[edit]

He has emerged as a commentator on the most prominent local, African and international tournaments broadcast by the Tunisian satellite channel: the European Champions League football matches, and the Tunisian team in his international participation. A large part of the football fans in Tunisia remember his enthusiastic comments on the so-called "Epic 2004", when he provided direct commentary on the matches of the national team. Tunisia in the 2004 African Nations Cup on the "Tunisia 7" channel, in addition to providing live and direct commentary from Germany of the "Germany 2006" FIFA World Cup matches, including the matches of the "Carthage Eagles" and the final round Italy - France.

He was also known as a broadcaster for popular programs such as: Ajwaa Al-Malaeb (the analytical studio of the Tunisian League), and an informant journalist whose reports were known for a unique voice tone within the most followed weekly program within the Tunisian sports television scene "Sports Sunday", and the security of multiple radio and television coverage from the heart of sporting events from continents Different world: Africa, Asia and Europe. He commented and secured direct correspondence and presented TV episodes from Tunisia, China, the Emirates, Burkina Faso, France, South Africa, Germany, Lebanon, Sudan, Britain, Egypt, Greece, Portugal, and other field coverage.

Dubai Media Corporation[edit]

Since 2006, Zaghdoudi covered tournaments and world events: Argentinian Football league, Copa America, Football Live studios for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, European Nations Cup qualifiers and the daily studio of the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009. Because of his experience with Bundesliga, he was a broadcaster for the matches analysis studios "Bundesliga Live". He produced and presented some of the programs of the German league televisoin coverage in the Arab Region, which lasted from 2006 to 2014 in a "free to air-exclusive" broadcasting for North Africa and the Middle East areas: the weekly preview show magazine Bundesliga kick-off, the weekly summary Bundesliga Show and many others television shows related to the Bundesliga coverage by Dubai Sports. He also produced popular programs such as: 1 Day with Bayern in Munich, The BVB Big time and 1 Day with Zidan in Dortmund. Zaghdoudi covered the 2007 Copa América event which was held in Venezuela for Dubai Sports.[1][2]

Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU)[edit]

In February 2000, Zaghdoudi was recruited as a commentator within the "Unified Arab team" of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU). Under this delegation, he commented on the international Sports tournaments that the Union owns the TV-Broadcasting rights for the benefit of the Arab TV Channels members: World Cup Qualifiers for the Latin American region (SAWCQ), the Mediterranean Games, the South American Cup of Nations "Copa America", the Olympic Games. He commentated on football, basketball and the international Daily Summary of the Olympics, commentating live from Athens 2004 (Greece), Beijing 2008 (China), London 2012 (UK) and Rio de Janeiro 2016 (Brazil).[3][4]

In May 2019, Zaghdoudi was nominated for the Zahid Qudsi Award for the Best Arab Sports Commentator of the Year.[5]
