Hossein Sharifi (Persian: حسین شریفی),(born 1974 in Tehran) is a musician, trombone player, composer, and music producer from Iran.[1][2]

Degree[edit]

He graduated from Tehran Music Conservatory and continued his education at Tehran University of Art. He holds a Bacherlor's and a Master's of Arts degree from Tehran University of Art.[3] He has received music training from Ahmad Pejman, Mostafa Kamal Pourtorab, and Mehran Rouhani among others.[4][5]

Biography and art activities[edit]

Hossein Sharifi started to learn music under the supervision of Andrei Arzumanian from the age of eight. Amir Beheshti, His father's friend and a Trumpet instructor, introduced him to wind instruments for the first time. He started to learn Trumpet and later, after starting his education in Tehran conservatory of music he chose Trombone as his main instrument.[1]

‏After graduating from Tehran Conservatory of Music, he continued his education and got a Bachelor's and later a Master's of Arts degree with a focus on wind instruments from Tehran University of Art. He then continued to work as a faculty member at the department of music in Tehran University of Art.[3][6][7][5]

Right before getting his diploma from Tehran Conservatory of Music, he was recruited to join the Tehran Symphony Orchestra that was at the time conducted by Fereydoun Naseri. He continued his collaboration with the orchestra for more than 20 years. Other than Fereydoun Naseri, he has worked with conductors such as Ali Rahbari, Nader Mashayekhi , and Shahrdad Rohani at the orchestra.[1] He is also a member of Iran's National Orchestra conducted by Farhad Fakhreddini.[2]

In 2019, he established the Pars wind orchestra, an orchestra focused on wind instruments and composed mostly of young artists recently graduated from music schools across Iran.[2]

In addition to performing with classical orchestras he has been collaborating with pop and traditional music artists such as Majid Entezami, Salar Aghili, Mohammad Esfahani, Ehsan Khajeh Amiri, Omid Hajili, Reza Sadeghi, Farzad Farzin, and many others.[1]
