Howard Moulton Lockie (born October 14, 1960) is an American actor and producer best known for Netflix's Colin in Black & White playing Coach Parker to a young Colin Kaepernick for 4 episodes[1] and Millennials as Mr. O'Dell on AMC's Allblk alongside Kyle Massey and Aaron Grady.[2] Howard has modeled in Glamour with Beverly Johnson[3] and been featured regularly in the Los Angeles Times[4], Santa Monica Outlook[5], and the Palisadian as a homegrown West Los Angeles baseball prodigy.
Early Life[edit]
Howard Moulton Lockie was born on October 14. 1960 in Santa Monica, CA. He was named after his grandfather, Howard M. Lockie of Rico Reeds and Lockie Music Exchange.[6][7] The son of R. Thomas Lockie, a lawyer, and Ann M. Lockie. He was the second of five children. During his teenage years he played baseball and threw the first perfect game at West LA Pony League eventually playing high school baseball at Palisades High School with Jay Schroeder. After graduating from high school Howard attended American University in Washington, D.C. graduating in 1983. He spent a semester abroad in Avignon, France. He started acting while living in New York City at HB Studio studying with William Hickey.
Career[edit]
In the early 1990s, Howard returned from working in New York City for International Sports Summit to Los Angeles to pursue a lifelong passion for the Performing Arts.
He began to study acting with Peter Flood in Beverly Hills with classmates Peter Berg and Lawrence Bender. In 1996 he appeared as a Play Tone band member in Tom Hanks' That Thing You Do!, followed by Hefner: Unauthorized (TV Movie), The 70’s (TV Series) and House of Frankenstein (TV miniseries), all for director Peter Werner. Howard appeared in the pilot for Sleeper Cell and a 2007 episode of Bones as Homeland Security Agent.
In 2000, Howard returned to the stage in Los Angeles appearing in a Theatre Palisades production of Christopher Durang’s The Actor’s Nightmare followed with a highly successful performance as Sam/Jesse/Roy in Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite (for which Howard won a Scenie Award[8][9],) Mr. Lawson in All The King’s Men, Theo in The Underpants, Sir Francis Chesney in Charley's Aunt, and Captain Harvey in WWII drama Port Chicago 50 for director Dennis Rowe[10]. Howard toured nationally for Port Chicago 50 telling this gritty drama at Black Theatres across America, most notably Berkeley Black Theatre and National Theatre of Harlem.
In 2004, Howard appeared in Prism Award winner Purgatory House[11]. 2006 saw Howard in State’s Evidence for Benjamin Louis followed by 2010’s Cupid’s Arrow for Dan Peterson. 2011 saw Howard work with acclaimed German director Ulli Lommel on D.C. Sniper and Mondo Americana.
Most recently, Howard shot the pilot and first two seasons of Millennials for Rugg and Oren Williams playing Mr. O’Dell, boss at Anglo Advertising streaming on #allblk.
In 2021, Howard starred as Coach Parker for Ava DuVernay in Netflix’s Colin in Black & White. He appeared in 4 episodes opposite Jaden Michael’s Colin Kaepernick.[1]
