Humantic AI

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Humantic AI is a buyer intelligence platform that provides actionable insights to salespeople about their buyers, helping them better understand their target companies’ priorities; as well as their key decision makers’ buying behavior and personality. It’s primarily used by B2B businesses in the United States. Founded in 2021 by Amarpreet Kalkat, the company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with a development center in Bengaluru, India.

Overview

The buyer intelligence platform is designed to assist sellers understand their buyers better by combining account-level intelligence with stakeholder insights. The platform utilizes a multi-agent architecture to automate research processes, aiming to replace manual data gathering with synthesized intelligence.

History

What eventually became Humantic AI started as a skunkworks project in Frrole AI , a consumer intelligence company founded by Amarpreet Kalkat in 2014. In late 2015/early 2016, the team at Frrole came across a research paper by Dr. Michal Kosinski of Stanford University showed how personality could be predicted using social data.[1][2] Kalkat envisioned how such an algorithm could allow people to understand other people better, and built a prototype of the product targeting the Talent and Human Resources market. In 2016, Frrole AI became the first company in the world to commercially launch Personality AI. When IBM Watson announced the same a few months later, Frrole AI was already there to take a jab at it.[3]

Even as it garnered attention from media, with Wall Street Journal terming it “technology that could reshape the world” and several other publications highlighting its ability to remove bias in hiring, the prototype continued to linger as a side-project for the next couple of years.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, and the world was going increasingly remote, Kalkat decided that they would be better off focusing on Sales instead of Talent and HR. Strengthening buyer relationships seemed far more urgent and valuable to companies, especially in a world gone remote.

The new product was launched in July 2020. In April 2021, Kalkat formally spun off Humantic AI as its own entity with a mission to humanize the internet by building a layer of people intelligence.

In March 2022, Humantic AI announced its seed funding round of $1.5 million from a group of prominent angel investors including Gokul Rajaram (DoorDash), Binny Bansal (Flipkart), and Sharath Keshava Narayana (Sanas).[11][12] The latter of which joined the company’s board.

In April 2022, Humantic AI completed its spinning out from Frrole AI, and Kalkat finally moved to Humantic AI full time.

This followed a period of rapid growth for the company. Even as the wider market reeled under the impact of a macro slowdown, Humantic AI added customers like Paypal, AWS, Mitel, Domo, Manchester United and more.

In March 2023, Humantic AI announced a strategic partnership with Sandler, the leading global sales training firm.[13]

In October 2023, Humantic AI achieved SOC2 Type I and Type II compliance certification, demonstrating its commitment to enterprise-level security and data protection.[14]

In November 2023, the company joined the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network as an Independent Software Vendor (ISV), bringing its Buyer Intelligence platform to enterprises running on AWS infrastructure.[15]

In August 2024, Humantic AI was recognized as a Sample Vendor in the Gartner Hype Cycle for Revenue and Sales Technology under the "Customer Psychographics" category. The category was positioned in the "Peak of Inflated Expectations" segment.[16]

In August 2024, Vishal Kumawat, who previously laid the groundwork for Humantic AI's original product during his tenure at Frrole, rejoined Humantic AI as its co-founder and CTO.

This followed Kumawat’s three-year stint at Google where he trained large multilingual models for spelling and grammar and later led the team responsible for all Generative AI functionality seen in Google Workspaces.

In December 2024, Gartner named Humantic AI as a Cool Vendor in AI-Led Sales Research, placing it among only five companies worldwide to receive this recognition. The company was also ranked #2 AI Sales Assistant of 2024 on G2's user satisfaction index.[17][16]

Notable customers

Humantic AI lists multiple Fortune 500 companies as customers, including AWS, NextEra Energy, and Cushman & Wakefield, alongside high-growth technology companies like GitLab, Domo, and Mitel.[18][19]

The platform

The Humantic AI platform operates through two primary artificial intelligence agents: Agent Miia (Account Intelligence) and Agent Pi (People Intelligence). Its ‘Kairos’ activation engine seamlessly integrates its primary agents’ features into salespeople’s existing workflows.

Core Components

Agent Miia (Account Intelligence)

This agent focuses on organizational data, providing a business snapshot that includes company strategy, key updates, industry trends, and competitor positioning. It generates organizational structures and buying-committee maps, categorizing stakeholders into roles such as champions, decision-makers, or skeptics. Miia is designed to provide the contextual "why" behind a potential purchase, mapping a vendor’s solution to a target company’s strategic initiatives.[20]

Agent Pi (People Intelligence)

This agent analyzes individual stakeholders and helps salespeople adapt their communication to suit the buyer’s personality preferences. The agent analyzes decision makers’ digital footprint to generate psychometric profiles based on the DISC and OCEAN (Big 5) personality models. It assesses approximately 37 behavioral dimensions and maps them to important sales parameters such as influence level, risk appetite, and detail orientation. Agent Pi then uses these insights to recommend or generate personalized content for emails, LinkedIn messages, and call scripts.

Data and Methodology

The platform aggregates data from multiple signal classes, including public web data (news, blogs, press releases), professional networks (such as LinkedIn), regulatory and financial filings, and licensed paywalled industry sources. Enterprise deployments can also ingest customers’ own data from their CRMs and other private data sources.

To mitigate hallucinations and ensure accuracy, Humantic AI employs a multi-agent system where specialized agents extract and cross-check facts while a separate synthesizing agent flags contradictions. The platform assigns a confidence score to its profiles and insights, particularly for buyers with limited digital footprints. It also provides provenance metadata to link insights back to underlying sources.

Integrations and Deployment

Humantic AI integrates with major Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, SalesLoft) and email platforms (Gmail, Outlook). It is accessible via a web dashboard and browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and all Chromium-based browsers including Microsoft Edge. It also integrates with Google and Outlook calendar to provide pre-reads and live insights on meeting participants.[21]

Additionally, the platform offers an open API, allowing organizations to embed personality and account intelligence into other products for proprietary internal tools, or as part of complex workflows.[22]

Recognition and Awards

  • Won the silver Stevie Award for best emerging startup (2023)[23]
  • Named a Gartner Cool Vendor in AI-Led Sales Research (2024) - one of only five companies worldwide[17]
  • Featured in Gartner Hype Cycle for Revenue and Sales Technology (2024) and Innovation Guide for Generative AI in Sales (2025)[16]
  • #2 AI Sales Assistant on G2 (2024), behind only Salesforce Sales Cloud[16]
  • Named Top 100 Highest-Satisfaction Products on G2[24]

Criticism and Controversy

Academic validity

Humantic AI’s pioneering approach to "personality prediction" has drawn significant attention. While the buyer intelligence platform is used by 5% of the Fortune 100 companies, the validity of Humantic AI's predictive modeling has been the subject of academic scrutiny.

In the study "An External Stability Audit Framework to Test the Validity of Personality Prediction in AI Hiring," researchers observed significant inconsistencies in the platform's personality profiles depending on the data source provided.[25]The audit found that the system frequently generated contradictory personality types for the same individual when comparing LinkedIn profiles against resumes. Consequently, the study concluded that the tool demonstrated a lack of stability, as outcomes varied significantly based on one input variable.

To address these critiques, the company points to a validation study by Dr. Tom Janz and an “ask me anything” style masterclass featuring Dr. Michal Kosinski.[26][27] These resources aim to refute instability claims and accuracy concerns, asserting that the platform performs better than its equivalent competitors and traditional questionnaire-based assessments.

Ethical concerns

The buyer intelligence platform uses publicly available data, is SOC2 compliant and adheres to GDPR and CCPA requirements.[14] However, some privacy advocates have raised questions about the ethics of personality profiling without explicit consent.[4]

Some critics note that personality frameworks like DISC and OCEAN risk oversimplifying human complexity and may lead to stereotyping individuals based on AI predictions, reducing people to a series of data points.[28]
