Humble Motors, Inc. is an American start-up technology company focused on the development of solar-powered electric vehicles founded by Dima Steesy.[1] Launched in 2020 and based in Southern California, Humble Motors is developing the Humble One, an all-electric SUV made from recycled materials and powered by sunlight.[2][3]

History[edit]

Founding[edit]

Humble Motors was founded by American businessman Dima Steesy in October 2020 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, in the Marina Del Rey neighborhood, which is adjacent to Venice, California.[4] From its inception in 2020, the company received $20 million in reserved pre-orders by March 2021.[5][6]

Concept vehicle and other planned vehicles[edit]

Humble Motors plans to launch its first fully solar-powered electric vehicle in 2025, with the possibility of producing a larger range of vehicles over time.[7] The company has implied plans to explore other aspects of the automotive and technology industries, such as more efficient photovoltaic cells, fold out solar wings for when the vehicle is parked, and peer-to-peer charging.[8]

In March 2021, Robb Report ran an article that provided a few specifications for Humble's proposed electric vehicle: it will have 15 percent higher specific energy than a Tesla Model S, it utilizes a solar roof that extends the range of the battery up to 60 miles a day, and it will have a lightweight design for improved efficiency.[9]

In addition to designing and developing electric vehicles, Humble Motors Inc. has filed patents pertaining to solar technology for use as roof panels in the automotive industries.[10][11]
