Hussein Kanji
Hussein Kanji (born October 1976)[1]is an American venture capitalist and angel investor resident in London. He is a co-founding managing partner of Hoxton Ventures, an early-stage investment firm, investing across Europe.[2][3] He is regularly cited in major news sources for commentary on the European venture capital ecosystem[4][5][6] particularly the lack of venture capital availability in Europe.[7]
He was also an instructor of venture capital at General Assembly (school)[8] and participated as an interviewee in a Coursera course on venture capital and startup financing.[9]
In 2011 Kanji was cited as the #1 most influential technology investor in Europe by The Telegraph[10] and in 2018 was chosen as one of the "100 coolest" people in European technology by Business Insider[11]. In 2017 he was called one of the "best people in UK tech to follow on Twitter" by Business Insider[12].
Personal history[edit]
Prior to his work at Hoxton, Kanji was an investor at Accel Partners and a product manager at Microsoft[13]. He attended Stanford University for undergraduate studies and has an MBA from London Business School.[14]

Prior to Hoxton Ventures, Hussein was an angel investor in companies such as GoCardless, Halo Neuroscience and Bea's of Bloomsbury.[15] He currently holds board seats on Yieldify, Darktrace, India's POPXo and TourRadar.
Television & speaking appearances[edit]
Kanji is a regular guest on Bloomberg television providing commentary for various technology topics, most often regarding Microsoft and Apple Inc.[16][17][18]
He is also a regular speaker at technology events including the Milken Institute[19], London Business School's technology summits[20], SuperReturn[21] and others.
Brexit[edit]
Kanji has been particularly vocal around Brexit and the impact on technology firms in the UK and Europe. He has commented that Brexit so far has not significantly impacted the UK technology startup environment[22] and the potential future impact and second order effects.[23]
He is also a noteworthy skeptic of some technology company overvaluations, with commentary in the Financial Times[24], the Economist[25] and other UK broadsheet newspapers such as City A.M.[26]
