Hypotenuse Technologies Pte. Ltd., or Hypotenuse AI, is a one-stop platform that utilizes artificial intelligence to generate marketing content for companies. Their offerings include blog articles, product descriptions, images, social media captions, and other marketing assets. As of June 2023, the Singapore-based generative AI start-up has amassed over 500,000 global users, catering to a diverse clientele from marketing agencies to Fortune 500 companies.[1]

Hypotenuse AI is backed by global investors such as Y Combinator as well as numerous other undisclosed VCs and angel investors. The start-up has received coverage from media outlets such as TechCrunch, TechRadar, Vulcan Post, and Channel NewsAsia, among others.

In May 2023, Hypotenuse AI co-founders Low Lin Hui and Joshua Wong were recognized in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list.[2]

History[edit]

In 2020, Joshua Wong established Hypotenuse AI to streamline content creation and management for small and medium-sized businesses using artificial intelligence.[3] At that time, generative AI technology was in its early stages, and the public had limited knowledge of AI's potential.[4]

With his experience in machine learning from Amazon and seed funding from Y Combinator, Wong founded the company on June 4, 2020, in Singapore.[5] Hypotenuse AI initially focused on AI-generated product descriptions for e-commerce firms.[6]

In early 2021, Low Lin Hui joined Hypotenuse AI as co-founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO).[7] In the same year, the start-up broadened its services by developing AI writers for blog content and social media captions, offering templates for various purposes, including Google ads, YouTube descriptions, category page descriptions, and website headlines.

In 2022, Hypotenuse AI launched Hypo Art, an AI-driven image generator that produces unique images from scratch.[8]

In February 2023, the company introduced Hypo Chat, a ChatGPT alternative featuring link reading capabilities and a built-in editor interface for increased functionality.[9] Concurrently, Hypotenuse AI appointed Rama Sadasivan, a former Scribd executive, as their first Chief Operating Officer (COO).[10]
