I-Santorini is a mixed-use skyscraper complex located in Tanjung Tokong, a suburb on the northwestern region of George Town, Penang. The entire complex, targeted for residential use, with limited commercial space, contains 2,155 residential units and 68 commercial units.[1] Each residential unit is 850 sq ft (79 m2) in area, housed in three separate skyscrapers: Tower A and Tower B with 48 storeys, and Tower C with 49 storeys. Tower C, with a reputed height of 185 m (607 ft), is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city of George Town.[2][3][4]
The complex is developed by Ideal, a property group based in Malaysia. The plot of land, originally planned for the construction of a 988-unit residential complex, was later repurposed in line with the developer's i-Condo projects, after the decision to comply with the 1Malaysia People's Housing Programme (PR1MA), providing affordable housing for lower and middle-class inhabitants. The architectural design, as well as the name of the complex, was modeled after the architecture present on the island of Santorini, Greece.[5]
Sales of the residential unit reached 80 percent of the total figure by February 2016. The complex was later completed in 2017. Since the completion of the complex, it has received numerous Malaysian architectural awards.[6]
