ICY.EMAIL is a UK based webmail service offering free email accounts for individuals worldwide.

ICY.EMAIL was founded in March 2020 by Louis Wittek [1], British Internet and software entrepreneur.

The provider's sole product line is email services and related infrastructure to facilitate reliable, secure, timely and efficient sending and delivery of email messages and their respective attachments.

ICY.EMAIL offers free email addresses on the titular domain (e.g. john.doe@icy.email) and on additional 20 assorted domains [2] which users can choose from. Additionally, for a nominal yearly fee of £1, users can opt for a premium email account on the eon.email domain, with extra features such as bigger mailbox storage space [2], anti-spam filter, malware protection and absence of advertisements.

ICY.EMAIL utilises for its webmail interface a customised Roundcube GUI, which is the exclusive means for sending/receiving emails when using the free part of the email service.

The premium part of the email service (eon.email) allows the user send and receive email on their mobile device and/or via their preferred email client (i.e. without using the default webmail interface) by utilising IMAP and SMTP protocols [3]. It also makes use of the autodiscover technology [3], so that in the majority of cases, Microsoft Outlook and similar email clients can set up the email account semi-automatically, omitting more complicated settings such as port numbers, and requiring only an email address and password.

The premium part of the service also supports the older POP3 mailbox access protocol, however does not recommended it, as it downloads emails onto the local mail client.
