IDN Media is a media platform company for millennials and gen z in Indonesia.This company was founded on June 8, 2014 in Surabaya, East Java, and based in Jakarta, by 2 brothers Winston Utomo and William Utomo.[1]

IDN Times is a news and entertainment digital media platform for millennials and generation Z in Indonesia. IDN Times is led by Editor-in-Chief Uni Zulfiani Lubis.

In 2020, IDN Media acquired Demi Istri Production, an film company founded by Indonesian director Fajar Nugros and Indonesian producer Susanti Dewi, and changed its name to IDN Pictures.[9]

JKT48

In 2022, IDN Media acquired the popular idol group JKT48 through the name of the label and agency, Indonesia Musik Nusantara, and under license from Vernalossom Co. Ltd. from Japan.[10]

Funding

Since its establishment, IDN Media has received 5 series of funding. IDN Media, which was still known as the IDN Times, received its first seed investment on September 7, 2015 from East Ventures. The following year, on September 5, 2016, IDN Media obtained series-A investment from North Base Media and several other investors, such as GDP Venture (a subsidiary of Djarum Group), East Ventures, and MNM Creative.[12]

On November 21, 2017, IDN Media obtained series-B investment from East Ventures and Central Exchange Hong Kong. Furthermore, on January 8, 2019, IDN Media obtained a series-C investment from EV Growth, a venture company which is a joint venture of East Ventures, Sinar Mas, and Yahoo! Japan. Other investors in this round are True Digital (part of Charoen Pokphand Thailand) and LINE Venture. On June 6, 2022, IDN Media received a series-D investment from Mayapada Group and KMIF (an investment fund backed by several biggest Indonesian conglomerates). Other investors are East Ventures, OCBC NISP Ventura, Dentsu Group, and V Media Ventures.[13]
