IFC Markets is an Cyprus-based online retail Forex and Contract for difference (CFD) broker trading in financial derivatives headquartered in Limassol Cyprus. IFC Markets specializes in Forex, Precious Metals, Stock CFDs, Continuous CFDs on Commodities, CFDs on Commodity Futures, Gold Instruments, CFDs on ETFs, CFDs on Crypto Futures, Continuous Index CFDs, Synthetic Instruments Library. It has registered offices in Cyprus, Labuan, Malaysia, and Tortola, British Virgin Islands.[1][2]

On April 6, 2006 IFC Markets registered as a broker and opened a website in 5 languages (English, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Farsi), the same year the broker presented its own NetTradex trading platform.[3][4]

In 2007 The company began providing services in Japanese and the affiliate program had started. IFC Markets, in addition to trading currencies in the Forex market, started to provide CFD trading in 2008. In the next year concluded the contract with MetaQuotes Software to provide MetaTrader 4 trading terminal to its traders.

In 2010 IFC Markets launched trading terminals, running Android, iOS, as well as MT4 multiterminal. 2011 was prominent in regards IFC Markets’ significant expanded range of trading instruments, including CFDs on stocks traded in the 8 largest world stock exchanges (NYSE, Nasdaq, Xetra, ASX, LSE, TSX, TSE, HKEx).[5]

IFCM Group created a subsidiary with European regulation by CySEC in 2012.

From 2013 to 2016 IFC Markets increasing number of languages to 18 of them to exceeding 600 trading instruments.[6] In 2016 traders got the opportunity to trade through Windows mobile[5], the web terminal MT4, as well as the possibility to trade CFDs on fixed-term commodity futures.[7] IFC Markets received a license from the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVI FSC) and a cornerstone innovative Portfolio Quoting Method called GeWorko. IFC Markets customers could create their own trading instruments by 2014.[8]

In the beginning of 2014 IFC Markets launched a synthetic instrument called Personal Composite Instrument (PCI), which allows traders to construct their own mini benchmarks.[9] It is integrated in the NetTradeX platform and allows personal composite instruments to be created within the platform with a few clicks.[10] PCI is much broader and can be used not only to create cross currency pairs, but also to build complex investment portfolios and allow quote one portfolio to be quoted in units of another.[9] This instrument allows clients to trade gold against popular financial instruments, such as oil, silver and even the S&P 500.

At the end of 2014 IFCM launched a new set of Personal Composite Instruments (PCIs) that allow traders to trade Gold against the Chinese Yuan, Australian Dollar and Japanese Yen.[11] PCI, through creation of new synthetic instruments, specifically designed and tuned by individual traders themselves can give birth to new trading strategies. The effects of PCI technology will encompass investment and hedging funds, where traders will be able to create their own portfolios with just a click of a button.[12]

In 2017 new trading instruments were added - CFDs on ETFs, the new MT5 platform was launched. The total number of trading terminals reached 16. From 2018 to 2020 the company added a new trading instrument - Bitcoin cryptocurrency futures.[12] IFCM Group created a subsidiary company IFC Markets Ltd which was licensed by the Labuan Financial Services Authority (LFSA) in the Federal Territory of Labuan (Malaysia).

Technology[edit]

Since the foundation of the company (2006) IFC Markets has used proprietary technologies alongside with others. One of the company's proprietary technologies is the NetTradeX trading platform. Which is available on multiple operating systems including iOS, Android, Windows.[13] [14] These technologies include customer onboarding, risk management tools, affiliates, back-office systems, marketing, and OSO.

Operations[edit]

IFC Markets had several innovation breakthroughs throughout several years with regards to NetTradeX, Portfolio Quoting Method (GeWorko), Continuous CFDs NetTradeX Ltd is the developer of advanced software for trading in financial markets including a multi-functional trading station NetTradeX and is registered in Cyprus under the registration number HE404377.[15][16]

In 2006 IFCMarkets presented NetTradeX; it’s an online CFD and Forex platform, equipped with professional tools for making technical analysis and offering automated trading for those traders that prefer using Experts during trades. In 2014 IFC Markets released the new version of NetTradeX with a few new features.[17]

GeWorko Portfolio Quoting Method was granted USA patent in 2019 - (it is based on the Forex concept, according to which, one financial asset is quoted by another; GeWorko method concept is expanded for portfolios that stand for base and quoted parts. More precisely, one combination of assets is quoted by another combination). Where the key component of the method is a synthetic instrument.[18]

Continuous CFDs on Stock Indices and Commodities (with no expiration day) - calculated with unique algorithms and based on the nearby liquid futures contracts. (The algorithm implements two schemes for calculating new instruments: the first one is for stock indices; the second one is for commodities).[19]

In 2011 IFCM CYPRUS LIMITED complied with the European Commission's MiFID and was licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under the license number 147/11.[20] IFCM CYPRUS LIMITED was authorized to provide the following investment and ancillary services: Investment Advice.
