About
IMPEL is a collective management organization owned and operated by independent music publishers worldwide. It acts as a body that unites these publishers to enhance their negotiating influence in the digital marketplace. This enables members to consolidate their music and present it to prominent digital music services across various regions through a unified rights management system.[1]
Partnerships
As of 2023, IMPEL has 59 members from 38 countries including all EU Member States, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Iceland, Kosovo, Albania, Switzerland and Norway.
On November 18, 2021, Japanese copyright collective NexTone announced that it has signed a collection agency agreement with IMPEL, for the collection of copyright royalties for the use of NexTone-managed works outside Japan.[2] In 2021 the company also announced that they had begun working with music rights company Blokur to build their copyright hub.[3]
