IP2Location
IP2Location
IP2Location is a company offering IP geolocation software applications. It derives geographical data (country, region, city, latitude, longitude, ZIP code, elevation, time zone), connection speed, ISP, domain name and usage type based on Internet users’ IP addresses.[1]
In 2007, Virgil Griffith, an American programmer, was using IP2Location[2][3] in WikiScanner. WikiScanner[4] (also known as Wikipedia Scanner) was a publicly searchable database operating between 2002 and 2007 that linked millions of IP addresses in anonymous edits on Wikipedia to the organizations where those edits apparently originated.
