I Want to Live[1] is a Kurdish documentary film directed by Karzan Kardozi.[2] The film focus on the lives of Kurdish Refugee from Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) living in refugees camps in South Kurdistan. Shot on location, it is set against the Syrian Civil War and the ISIS (Islamic State) attacks upon Kurdistan. The film is told through the eyes of a young boy, Shndar, living with Thalassemia disease as he searches for an immediate treatment without losing hope. He leaves his home amid simmering ethnic and religious hatred to live the life of a refugee. The film tells stories of daily life in the camp and outside.[3]

The film was shot in the span of one week at Arbat Camp outside the city of Sulaymaniyah. Arbat Camp in the town of Arbat, the camp has more than 700 Kurdish families from Rojava. The film was show in cinéma vérité style, with the filmmaker truthfully capturing the daily life of Shndar in the camp and outside of it, the narrative in the film match the actual shooting time which is four days and one night in the life of Shndar.[4]
