IamFazeUK, aka Faze (1985-) is a British rapper known for urban, modern society music that crosses genre boundaries.
Biography
IamFazeUK, also known as Faze, is a British rapper of mixed Pakistani–African descent.
Born in Tanzania in 1985, he had what would be considered a strict upbringing, attending an Islamic school until his parents moved to the United Kingdom when he was 10 years old.
His passion for music developed early, watching his brother perform traditional African music using the Swahili language. This passion was later influenced by early 1990s hip hop artists like House of Pain and Kris Kross.
Growing up amidst the racial tensions of Brixton in the 1990s, Faze attended Stockwell Park school, alma mater to grime luminaries such as Big Narstie.
Feeling alienated by society, he gravitated towards gang life, which culminated in convictions and jail time for possession with intent to supply and gang-related activity.
Since serving his time, Faze has focused on his business interests while pursuing his musical aspirations in his spare time.
2018 saw Faze record and release the “Basic” EP and begin to gain an online following and airplay, with a further EP planned for late 2018.[1]
