Early Life
James Ongige was born on September 4, 2003, in Nairobi, to Gladys Moraa, a business woman and Willy Ongige, a musician. He grew up in Kangemi, Nairobi and was raised Catholic. He attended other few schools before joining New Kihumbuini Primary School, in Kangemi then Nduru Boys' High School in Kisii, and Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.[1][2]
Career
James Ongige began his music career as Rapking with his debut single Outta 23 in 2019 before changing his stage name to Quafff in April 2021 when he released a collaborated single track 'Danger' with Gashu and Mkay (MK). In 2024, Ongige debuted in filmmaking, directing the horror short film 'I Know Whatcha Did' while studying at The Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, The Holy Requiem (2025), Harambee: The weight of Division (2025), and Weekend In hell (2025) That same year, he produced, wrote, directed, and edited two additional projects — the drama short feature Life’s a Blank Page and the mockumentary Behind the Behind the Scenes, which went on to win Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Director at the KIMC Film Awards 2025.[3][4][5]

James Ongige born September 4 2003, is a Kenyan filmmaker, rapper, singer, actor and record producer. He is an upcoming artist considered by many faces of rap. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Ongige began his musical career at a young age of 13 years old with his debut single "Outta 23" in 2019.[6][7]
