Iam Blameless born as Innocent Nzayisenga is a Rwandan singer-songwriter, music producer and a performer of soul, blues, Afro-soul, World music.[1] He is known for his soulful voice and musical ingenuity.
Iam Blameless was born on December 21, 1993 to Bernadette Mukase and Pierre Celestin Bucyana in a village called Ruyenzi, Runda in Southern province of Rwanda. His parents and many of his relatives died during the 1994 genocide committed against Tutsi in Rwanda and he was raised by his grandmother who died in July 2014.[2][3][4]
At the age of 16, he began writing songs with his co-founded high school live band known as The Braves and a year after, the band performed in the benefit concert for Somalia during the 2011 crisis.[5] Iam Blameless moved to Montreal in 2014 for his undergraduate degree in African studies and political science with a minor in sound recording at McGill University after receiving a fully-funded MasterCard Foundation scholarship.[3][6]
Iam Blameless was recognized for having promoted and produced music of all genres upon his high school graduation day at Agahozo-Shalom (January 2014).[8] He received a Peace Run Medal for exceptional musician who promoted peaceful message in 2018.[9] In that same year, he also received a No Limit Awards for Song of the year (We Brought You Flowers)
