Ian Bloom (born February 15, 1990) is an American art dealer, actor, filmmaker, musician, and author born in Hollywood, Los Angeles. He is the founder and director of NATURAL, an art gallery and publishing house.
He writes, directs, produces, photographs, and stars in his own films. His work also includes rock music, books, painting, photography, and editions.
Early life and education
Bloom was born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. As a teenager, he attended academic programs at Columbia University and the University of California, Berkeley, studying art history, narrative film, political science, and comparative literature. He later studied business at the New York University Stern School of Business.
Career
Writing and publishing
Bloom wrote The Western Road at the age of 21. He subsequently wrote fiction, screenplays, interviews, and poetry, including Screwdriver, Chaos Free, Savage Recreation, Victory’s Judge, Simulation, The Interviews, Star Vehicle, Manifest Destiny, New York, King Kong, Fate, Real Life, Driver, Raw Canvas, and King.
His books frequently address art, money, power, desire, fate, identity, and American self-invention.
Film
In 2016, Bloom made Driver, a 23-minute film for which he served as writer, director, producer, cinematographer, editor, and lead actor.
Bloom later made the feature films Star Vehicle, King, and Big Time. In Star Vehicle, he plays the dual leading roles of The Star and The Suit. King is a silent neo-noir feature in which he plays an art dealer. Big Time is set in New York and features Bloom as its sole on-screen performer in the role of The Gangster.
Music
Bloom released his debut album, Swagger, in 2025. He wrote, performed, produced, arranged, and recorded the album, performing vocal, guitar, and bass.
In 2026, he recorded Golf, a ten-track instrumental rock album. His other recorded projects include Laid, Swagger II, Swagger III, Know, and Meet Ian Bloom.
Visual art and art dealing
Bloom's visual work includes painting, drawing, and photography. His paintings include works made in Los Angeles and New York, while his photographs include "Head of War, Paris" and a group of photographs made in Chicago in 2016.
In 2025, Bloom developed NATURAL as an art gallery and publishing house. He serves as its founder and director.
