Ibrahim Emin
Ibrahim Maharram oglu Eminov (Azerbaijani: İbrahim Məhərrəm oğlu Eminov, Ибраһим Мәһәррәм оғлу Еминов, [ibrɑˈhim mæhærˈæm ɔˈɣlu ɛˈminəf], 18 May 1963 - 2 July 2019), known popularly as Ibrahim Emin, was an Azerbaijani rock musician, best known for being the founder and bassist of Yukhu.
Born in Sumgayit, he would spend his teenage years listening to Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin on illegal BBC transmissions, which inspired him to play music. He formed his first band, Vagabond, in 1976 at the age of 13.
In 1988, he formed Yukhu with vocalist Jasur Nematov, guitarist Namig Naghdaliyev and drummer Chingiz Eyvazov, and achieved success in Turkey in the 1990s. The group recorded three albums. He would remain in Turkey until 2003, when he returned to Azerbaijan and, with guitarist Eldaniz Mirzoyev, formed Sirr, who remained active until 2015. During this time, he abandoned the Slavic-influenced surname suffix "-ov" and became known simply as Ibrahim Emin.
Emin died on 2 July 2019.
