Icy Veins is a website offering guides, an internet forum, and news coverage for a variety of video game titles primarily focused around releases from Blizzard Entertainment. Although mainly focused on the massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft and the Diablo series, it has since expanded to cover titles from other companies such as Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV and Amazon Games' Lost Ark. Originally run by French company Vedatis SAS, it has since become owned by Canadian digital media company Enthusiast Gaming.[1]

History[edit]

The site first began by covering a limited number of PvE guides pertaining to World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, officially launching on March 21st, 2011[2][3]. Its coverage gradually expanded with the creation of a section covering Diablo III and, eventually, the launch of a sister site to cover Path of Exile[4]. As of 2022, Icy Veins covers news and offers content pertaining to 17 titles including those in the collectible card game (Hearthstone), MOBA (Heroes of the Storm), first person shooter (Overwatch), and RPG (World of Warcraft, Diablo, Final Fantasy XIV, New World, Lost Ark) genres.

On August 24, 2017, Icy Veins announced the launch of a premium subscription service designed to help the support the website and its contributors. This service offers the removal of ads, wider forum privileges, and access to exclusive channels within the website's Discord server.[5][6]

In 2021, it was announced that Icy Veins' parent company Vedatis SAS would be acquired by digital media company Enthusiast Gaming, with it being stated that the purchase would help in "opening opportunities to monetize the platform through the organization's other avenues"[7] This acquisition was completed in May of 2021.[8]
