Idahoan Foods is a consumer packaged goods company based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, founded in Lewisville, Idaho in 1960. They specialize in the production of dehydrated potato products, which are sold primarily under the brand Idahoan. They employ approximately 800 people at the height of their production cycle.
Idahoan Foods operates three production facilities in Idaho and source all of their fresh potatoes from growers within the state of Idaho. Each of these facilities washes, peels, cooks and mashes the fresh potatoes. Idahoan Foods also markets and sells a line of hearty potato-based soups in the retail channel.[citation needed]
Idahoan Foods also has a line of Foodservice products, for restaurants, school meals, cafeterias, and more. This line includes dehydrated potatoes such as mashed potatoes, hash browns, & casseroles.[citation needed]
History[edit]
Idahoan Foods started in 1951 as a potato dehydration plant by local potato growers. A proprietary improved process was invented in 1990.[1]
