IdiotBox
Idiot Box[edit]
Plot Summary[edit]
One day whilst watching TV, Hugh has an epiphany: he's watching TV. He's been watching TV for a long time. Too long perhaps? Along with his childhood friend, Gav, the two attempt to make a change to their lives, for the betterment of humanity. The only problem is... they're idiots, Gav girlfriend has just given birth to an unplanned baby and they're both working dead-end jobs. Inspired by the world around them, mainly their own lounge rooms and the TV, they go on a suburban crusade to show people what life is really about. If you've ever stared at your own reflection for too long and found something vaguely amusing about it then Idiot Box is for you.
History[edit]
Idiot Box's inception was January 2014, when director Benjamin Leo Bryan had an idea for this relatable comedy series. After holding several casting sessions throughout the year and narrowing the field to a select few, two cast members were selected to play Hugh and Gav as two idiotic late twenty - early thirty year old men who have discovered their youthful exuberance is behind them, and now it's time they "did something." Filming for a TV series pilot episode began October 2014 before Dave Curtain joined the cast to play Dave, Hugh's socially awkward neighbour.
In order to provide substance behind the TV series pilot, Idiot Box webisodes began filming January 2015. Whilst the pilot episode is currently shelved, as of March 2015, the webisdoes will continue to be uploaded to Idiot Box's YouTube channel via Benjamin Leo Bryan's[1] monitored account.

Synopsis[edit]
Life isn’t always easy in the suburbs. You are born. Educated. Given every single opportunity possible to succeed. Then slowly but surely, like an overwatered plant in an overcrowded pot, you begin to wither and die.
Two childhood friends Hugh & Gavin are in the autumn of their twenties when they realise they’ve spent all this time watching TV and jerking off to average pornography instead of actually living.
Rather than going quietly into their 30’s like good citizens they decide to really fuck things up properly and ‘do something’ with their lives.
Idiot Box is the story of what follows when you’ve got nothing better to do with life than vegetate in front of a flickering screen.
Characters[edit]
Hugh[edit]
Hugh was a very smart kid, now a mildly intelligent adult. He lives by himself, his mother has run off with another man and his father is in a home due to alcohol dependence. He has the beginning of what you might call a beard and the fashion sense of a middle aged father of 7 from Sunshine North. Working at the local liquor store has given Hugh some insight about life: mainly that it sucks and that you can’t trust anybody.
Gavin[edit]
Gavin went to the same primary school as Hugh. Now an adult he’s been pigeonholed by various addictions and managed to get his girlfriend Tanya pregnant. This hasn’t had any effect on his mischievous ways. He works at a local factory and always looks sleep deprived. Although years of drug abuse have left Gavin looking like an overripe cantaloupe with facial hair, he remains surprisingly athletic. Gavin loves dairy products.
Dave[edit]
Dave is Hugh’s neighbour. He’s a gentle giant but doesn’t have any social skills and finds it hard to make friends. He secretly dreams of hanging out with Hugh and Gav.
Jim[edit]
Jim is Hugh’s father; he lives in a nursing home. He isn’t really that old, just an alcoholic. He’s very fond of nautical terms and looks vaguely like a pirate of old.
Tanya[edit]
Tanya is constantly preoccupied with how she looks and loves reading books on divorce and crimes of passion. She dreams of marrying the unplanned father of her child; Gavin, even though she hates him most of the time.
