Idris Khalil oglu Gadimov (September 15, 1920, Morul, Ganja district - August 20, 1996, Klaipėda) — Soviet-Azerbaijani soldier, lieutenant colonel of the medical service. An Azerbaijani who played a major role in the victory over fascism on May 9.

Personal life[edit]

Idris Gadimov is a descendant of the well-known Gadimagali (formerly known as Badirbaylis) of Shamkir. His father, Khalil agha Gadimov, was among the landlords who were sent into exile after the rebellions against the Soviet occupation in Azerbaijan (1920-22), Shamkir rebellion.

Education[edit]

Having successfully completed secondary education, Idris Gadimov completed his higher education in August 1942 at the Azerbaijan State Medical University, majoring in infectious diseases.

During World War II[edit]

Working as a junior doctor in the sanitary-medical department, Idris Gadimov provided highly qualified medical assistance to wounded soldiers and officers in battle conditions.

Idris Gadimov was a junior doctor of the regiment on the Western Front from 23.06.1943 to 08.08.1943; From 08.08.1943 to 01.10.1944, junior doctor of the regiment on the 3rd Belorussian Front; From 01.10.1944 to 09.05.1945, he worked as a junior doctor of the regiment in the Special Military District of the Western Front.

From 04/07/1945 to 04/10/1945, Idris Gadimov provided medical aid to more than 200 people during the last battles for the city of Koenigsberg. He performed 2 medical transfusions consisting of 21 blood and blood substitutes, 8 vagosympathetic blockades, 25 anesthesia breaks. These are among the surgical measures for severe wounds.

In the years after World War II[edit]

After the war, Idris Gadimov worked as a doctor in the Military Hospital located in Klaipeda (Lithuanian SSR).
