Early life
Barilea was born on November 9, 2004.[3][4][5]
Career
Hailing from the Visayas,[5] Barilea first played for the Santa Rosa City Lions in the Spikers’ Turf semi-professional league during the 2022–2023 season.[6][4]
He later joined 1Silay Volleyball Club, representing the team in the 2025 Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Under-21 National Championships, where his performance helped the club win a bronze medal.[2][7][4]
His play in the U21 competition led Alas Pilipinas head coach Angiolino Frigoni to include him in the national team training pool for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship hosted in the Philippines.[2][8][4][7][5]
He was also part of the Philippine national team that competed in the 2025 AVC Men's Volleyball Champions League in Japan and played under the club name "Cignal", though he did not appear in matches.[8]
Barilea was seen as a promising player and a potential future mainstay in the national program.[1][7][4]
Death
Barilea died on November 11, 2025.[3] He was involved in an accident while driving his motorcycle and was hit by a bus in Cadiz. He was rushed to the Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital in Bacolod where he died.[9]
