Il vecchio nerd
Thomas Scalera, also known under the pseudonym Il Vecchio Nerd (Vairano Patenora, 19 May 1974), is an Italian Journalist, Writer and YouTuber.
In the Italian panorama he is a journalist who has distinguished himself in the dissemination of the anime world, especially those from the 70s and 80s. The main dissemination channel was his YouTube channel.[1]. He founded and directed the magazines V-news.it and Planetmagazine.it. In 2004 he published a fantasy story entitled "The Flaming Sword". He recently participated in the Lucca Comics & Games as an expert on robots, boardgames and role-playing games. In 2020 Kristal Gaming interviewed him for his experience on Japanese animation and his link with the pop world. He interviewed many characters from the world of comics, TV and cinema including Don Alemanno, Sabrina Cereseto, Menotti (cartoonist), Nicola Guaglianone e Carmine Di Giandomenico [2][3]. Together with Alessandro Apreda, he is considered one of the leading Italian experts in Japanese animation. In 2010, he also participated in the broadcast of Sky Italia "mi ha lasciato, cambio vita", as protagonist. In 2022 he participates in the 'Cassinofantastica' comic fair as a guest, for a specific panel on the 'Robottoni' of Classic Anime such as Mazinga Z, UFO Robot Goldrake e Jeeg.
He has been at the center of an important project in which he has collaborated with National Geographic Magazine[4], Reggia di Caserta[5], Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite per l'educazione, la scienza e la cultura, FOX ed Unione europea nel progetto World Heritage Journeys Europe[6][7][8]
