Ilaria Pascucci is an Italian-American astrophysicist and planetary scientist, known for her work on planet formation and extrasolar planet populations. Pascucci is an Associate Professor of Planetary Science and Astronomy at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory of The University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona.

Career

She was born in Pesaro, Italy, in 1975, and grew up in Civitanova Marche. Pascucci received an M.A. in Astronomy from the University of Bologna. Her thesis advisors were G. Palumbo, M. Walmsley, and P. Caselli. She received her PhD in Astronomy from the University of Heidelberg for research carried out at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Heidelberg, for high-angular resolution studies of massive star formation. Her doctoral advisor was Thomas Henning.

Between 2004 and 2008 Pascucci worked at Steward Observatory of The University of Arizona as a postdoctoral member of the Formation and Evolution of Planetary Systems (FEPS) team. Between 2008 and 2011, Pascucci worked as a scientist and astronomer at the Johns Hopkins University and the Space Telescope Science Institute, in Baltimore, MD. In 2011, she moved to an assistant professor position at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory of The University of Arizona. In 2016, she was appointed Associate Professor and in 2021 she was appointed Associate Director.
