Ilham Nagiyev (İlham Nağıyev), born January 1, 1988, is an Azerbaijani entrepreneur, co-founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GESCO OJSC[1] and Bine Agro CJSC[2] and the President of the “Baku United FC” [3] football club and the founder of “Odlar Yurdu” Organization [4]

From 1994 till 2004 Ilham Nagiyev studied at the lyceum. In 2004 Ilham Nagiyev got accepted part time to Business Administration and Management faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. In 2005-2006 he studied at SOAS University in London. From 2006 till 2009 he studied full time at the Citi University of London (CASS Business School) at Business Management faculty. In 2010-2012 he received a master’s degree (MBA) from Azerbaijan State University of Azerbaijan.

Career[edit]

From 2013 till 2016 Ilham Nagiyev served as Deputy Head and then Head of the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.[5] In 2016, Ilham Nagiyev was appointed as Vice President for Strategic Development at Bina Agro CJSC. From 2017 till 2019 served as the head (CEO) of the company. In 2019, Ilham Nagiyev became the head of the Supervisory Board of Bina Agro CJSC. Currently, Bina Agro CJSC is the leading greenhouse farm in Azerbaijan and occupies about 75 hectares of area where tomatoes, eggplants, broccoli, cucumbers and other crops are grown. Since 2008, Ilham Nagiyev has led the Odlar Yurdu Organisation (OYO), which functions as a youth organization uniting Azerbaijanis living in the UK, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Romania, Austria and Germany. The events organized by Odlar Yurdu and aimed at representing Azerbaijan in different countries of the world include concerts, sporting events, exhibitions and book presentations in various European cities. Odlar Yurdu also holds various charity events.

Later OYO widened its areas of operation, and now functions as an organization, which promotes public awareness of Azerbaijani issues in Europe, as well as contributes to the strengthening public and diaspora activity of the Azerbaijanis living in Europe.

On the initiative of Ilham Nagiyev, the football club Baku United FC was created in 2008 by the Odlar Yurdu Organization. Back at that time the Odlar Yurdu Organization formed a number of amateur futsal teams made up of students studying in London. Later on, this historical tradition has given rise to the name ‘Baku United’. In 2012-2013 Baku United FC joined the England’s National Futsal League as a professional team.[6] In one year the newly formed professional club managed to win the championship in England’s Super League in 2013 and gained a right to represent England in UEFA Futsal Cup next year.
