Jordan Gass-Pooré is an American investigative journalist and podcast producer. She is best known for producing the Sounds Like Hate podcast for the Southern Poverty Law Center[1] and founding the Hazard NJ podcast.[2][3][4]

Career[edit]

Jordan Gass-Pooré has produced work for Mother Jones,[5] the Southern Poverty Law Center[6] and CNN, including CNN's award-wining[7] Chasing Life with Sanjay Gupta.[8][9] She produced and hosted[10] Sounds Like Hate, the Southern Poverty Law Center's podcast[11]. She executive produced the second season of Queens Memory Project Podcast[12] which won the Third Coast International Audio Festival Impact Award[13][14].

In 2022, Gass-Pooré created, produced and hosts[15][16] Hazard NJ with NJ Spotlight News. Hazard NJ is an investigative podcast covering the ways that climate change and extreme weather impact Superfund sites in New Jersey[17][18] and the first podcast to be produced by NJ Spotlight News.[19][20]

Gass-Pooré has contributed to numerous publications and was an Investigative Reporters & Editors 2021 Freelance Fellow.[21] She also is a co-founder of Local Switchboard[22][23], through which she speaks and runs training on the topic of podcasting.[24]

Personal life[edit]

Gass-Pooré was raised in Texas[25] and attended Texas State University.[26] She later studied journalism at City, University London where she founded one of its student media outlets Carrot Radio.[27] She is currently based in New York City.
