Illtown Sluggaz is an American hip hop performance troupe from New Jersey founded by Vin Rock (Vincent Brown) and DJ Kay Gee (born Keir Lamont Gist),[1] two founding members of Naughty By Nature. This is the performance arm of the larger music production company and record label known as Slugga Music Entertainment Ltd.[2]
The live performances consist primarily of a trio of Vin Rock, KayGee and their bear-themed mascot, DJ Slugga. Their DJ Hype-style format also regularly feature live performances by other Hip hop, Pop, and R&B artists on the Slugga Music roster.[1][3]
On March 17, 2022, it was announced that Illtown Sluggaz would be joining the 2022 Mixtape Tour[4] headlined by New Kids on the Block and also starring Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley, and En Vogue.[5] The tour included 57 shows across North America between May and July 2022. Their inclusion on the tour included a VIP pre-show party and meet & greet event dubbed as "The Slugga Lounge" as well as a 30-minute DJ-style set to open the main show for each night of the tour.[6] Guest performances at these events included singer/songwriter Ryan Lane[7] and actor/performer Griffin McIntyre.[8]
