RPM Records (Danish Pressing Plant)
RPM Records is a vinyl record pressing plant, founded in 2017[1] and located in Brøndby Municipality, Greater Copenhagen, Denmark[2]. It specializes in manufacturing 7-inch and 12- inch records and reissues, that primarily include hip-hop, jazz, blues, rock, reggae, pop, folk, electronic and classical styles of music. It is the first sustainable and fully automatic record pressing plant in the country[3].
History[edit]
The Danish company RPM Records received one of the largest investments[4] in the history of Denmark's Radio's entrepreneurship program Løvens Hule[5] and it has been highly supported ever since by business angels entrepreneur Birgit Aaby and politician Tommy Ahlers.
Since 2020, the company is owned and operated by Guðmundur Ørn Ísfeld[6] and Mathias Meulengracht.
Technology[edit]
RPM Records uses the WarmTone™[7] press engineered by Canada's Viryl Technologies[7]. It is a fully automatic, modernized vinyl record pressing system[8]. It is highly efficient, consistent, and capable of high quality output and yield, generating the lowest pollution rates available. The WarmTone™ is capable of 24 second[9] cycle times when ideal input parameters are provided, which allows for consistent and fast production.
Activity[edit]
RPM Records[10] has been pressing vinyl records for a variety of record labels including Sony Records, Universal, Mermaid Records to name a few, in addition to a plethora of independent, small scale record labels from Scandinavia and the rest of the world.
