Ilya Pozin is an American businessman who is the co-founder and current chief executive officer (CEO) of Telly.[1][2][3]
Previously, he co-founded Pluto TV which was acquired by Viacom in 2019.[4]
Early life and education
Ilya Pozin was born in Russia.[5] He immigrated to the U.S. from Russia in 1991.[5][6]
Pozin earned his bachelor's degree in information studies from the Florida State University (FSU) in 2005.[5]
Career
Pozin co-founded his first business, Ciplex, in 2000 which was converted into a startup accelerator in 2016 after acquisition.[5][6][7]
In 2012, Pozin co-founded Open Me and later served as its chief executive officer (CEO).[8][9][10] A year later, he co-founded Pluto TV, a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, with Nick Grouf and Tom Ryan (business executive).[11][12] He served as the chief growth officer of Pluto TV until it was acquired by Viacom Inc. in 2019 for $340 million.[13][14]
In 2023, Pozin co-founded Telly, a company that provides free TV sets, supported by advertising.[3][12] Telly allows users to use their preferred operating systems, including Roku, Fire TV, or traditional options like cable boxes or antennas.[3] The lower screen always remained ad-enabled, regardless of the content viewed.[3]
