Image layout algorithms calculate the position of images in space, particularly with regard to optical perception of an electronic visual display.

Examples of common image layout algorithms are grid and flexbox. Image layout is a information science technique for collage generation used within page layout, and its output can be evaluated among many data and geometrical factors such as negative space, aspect ratio, scale, cropping, and hierarchy. More sophisticated image layouts are possible, for example preserving the aspect ratio of images while maintaining relative size.[1]
