Independent Catholic Jurisdictions

The Independent Sacramental Movement, to which Independent Catholicism belongs, is a fluid movement with many micro-jurisdictions, most often labeled as jurisdictions, which range in size from a single member to many members. The following list attempts to separate jurisdictions into those that are presently active and those that are inactive and/or defunct.

This list does not include the member churches of the Union of Utrecht of Old Catholic Churches, or its dependent jurisdictions and missions, since these are not independent of one another. These churches include: the Old Catholic Church of the Netherlands, the Polish Catholic Church, the Catholic Diocese of the Old Catholics in Germany, the Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland, the Old Catholic Church of Austria, the Old Catholic Church of the Czech Republic, the Old Catholic Mission in France, the Old Catholic Church in Sweden & Denmark, and the Old Catholic Church of Croatia.

Rather than delete any of the entries below, we ask that you simply move inactive and defunct jurisdictions to the appropriate list below, so that we can assemble a comprehensive list of all Independent Catholic jurisdictions, past and present.
