India and Pakistan are arch-rivals,and the rivalry is not such a football-inspired ill-feeling between the two,but more of geography, religion and history.India and Pakistan regularly compete in SAFF Championship.India is the most successful team in the competition with 7 titles,while Pakistan is yet to win one.Both India and Pakistan have never qualified for a FIFA World Cup.India have qualified for the 1950 World Cup,but withdrew from the competition.India have qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 4 times,finishing runners-up at the 1964 edition.Pakistan on the other hand have never qualified for a major tournament outside the subcontinent.India also competed at the Olympics and their best result came in 1956 when they reached the semi-finals.In general India have more success than Pakistan at international stage.[1][2][3]
