The Indian Land Fire District was officially formed in 2023, although fire services existed in the area for decades before that.

The Indian Land Fire District was created as a direct result of the mass growth of the region. Before the creation the regions fire protection was performed by the Indian Land Fire Rescue in the South end and the Pleasant Valley Fire Department in the North End.
