Early life and education[edit]

Dino Patti was born in Denmark. Information about his early life, education, and family background remains scarce. However, his passion for video games and technology led him to a career in the gaming industry.

Career[edit]

Playdead[edit]

In 2006, Patti co-founded the independent game studio Playdead along with Arnt Jensen, a Danish artist and game designer. Patti served as the CEO and executive producer, overseeing the development and production of the studio's games.

Playdead's first game, Limbo, was released in 2010. The game is a puzzle-platformer with a unique monochromatic art style, and it received widespread critical acclaim for its innovative design, art, and storytelling. Limbo won several awards, including the "Best Visual Art" and "Best Audio" awards at the 12th Annual Independent Games Festival, as well as the "Best Debut" award at the 11th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards.

Following the success of Limbo, Playdead began working on their next project, Inside. The game was released in 2016 and, like Limbo, is a puzzle-platformer featuring a dark and atmospheric art style. Inside received high praise from critics and gamers alike, winning numerous awards, including "Best Art Direction" at The Game Awards 2016 and "Best Visual Design" at the 2016 Golden Joystick Awards. Inside also earned several BAFTA game nominations and won the award for "Best Artistic Achievement" at the 2017 British Academy Games Awards.

Departure from Playdead and founding of Jumpship[edit]

In 2016, Dino Patti announced his departure from Playdead, selling his shares in the company. The reasons for his departure were not entirely clear, but Patti later stated in an interview that it was due to a disagreement with his business partner, Arnt Jensen.

In 2017, Patti founded a new independent game studio, Jumpship, in collaboration with Chris Olsen, a British animator and game developer. Patti serves as the CEO, while Olsen is the creative director of the studio. Their goal is to create thought-provoking and innovative video games with a strong emphasis on storytelling and art.

Jumpship's first project, Somerville, was announced in June 2017. The game is described as a "sci-fi action-adventure" that tells the story of a family caught in the midst of a global catastrophe. Although Somerville has not yet been released, early previews and teasers have garnered attention for its striking visuals and intriguing narrative.
