Ink (born 1986), stylised as INK and also known as Ciaran Inkredible or Young Trap Prince, is an Irish drill rapper. INK has been declared the "godfather of Irish drill"; according to District Magazine, he arguably released the first Irish drill song in 2015 (a remix of "Chiraq" by an unknown artist),[3] although other sources say that he has been making drill rap songs since 2017.[2] He is also known for using an Irish accent, in spite of most Irish drill rappers.[4]
INK is a member of 86 (also known as 086), a gang located in Dublin, Ireland.[4][2]
Musical career[edit]
Taking inspiration from Chicago drill, grime and trap,[1] one of INK's earliest noted songs was released in 2015 with the release of a remix of "Chiraq", whose artist is unknown.[3] According to DJ Mag, by 2021 he had been making music for over a decade prior.[2] In 2017, he released "Eye for an Eye", with its music video accumulating 76,000 views in the 6 days after its release on YouTube;[1] by May of 2018 the video had 151,000 views.[5] In 2020, INK released a "Fire in the Booth" freestyle;[6] the following year he released a "Plugged In" freestyle.[7][8] Around the same time, his single "Bad Intentions" had roughly 5 million views on YouTube.[3]
INK was mentioned in a 2019 documentary - part of the television series Noisey, produced by Vice Media - about the Irish drill rap scene.[9][10]
