Inno JP (Kigali (Rwanda) 1984), born under the name Innocent, later named Jean-Paul, is a Belgian comedian, actor and journalist. He mainly does stand-up shows in Paris. Since 2016, he started his career as a comedian.[1]
Live journey[edit]
Inno was born in Kigali, Rwanda, where his mother gave him the name Innocent. He grew up with his two adoptive mothers in the Walloon commune of La Hulpe, close to Belgium's capital, Brussels. He lived in the city of Liège for five years. In 2016, he left for Montreal, Canada. There he was admitted to the ENH; L'École nationale de l'humour, a private school for those who want to specialise in cabaret. In 2018, he returned to Belgium to establish his career as a cabaret artist.[1]
Inno JP as a Stand-up Comedian[edit]
On stage, Inno mainly draws examples from his own life. For instance, he speaks openly about his adoption, alcoholism and pornography addiction. Both prosperity and adversity get the spotlight in his shows, where he does not shy away from self-criticism and self-mockery. At the L'Européen theatre in Paris, he has done opening acts for Blanche Gardin. He has done tours with Belgian comedienne Nawell Madani.[1] He appeared on the French programme Derrière un micro on Canal+ with French comedian Kyan Khojandi.[2]
True Story 2020[edit]
In 2020, he launched his first Stand-Up show under the name True Story. It was successfully renewed in 2021. The show's name changed to La Vie Quoi in 2022, on the advice of comedienne Florence Mendez, as he continued his tour in France, mainly Paris, in the same year.[1][3]
Les Anonymes[edit]
Les Anonymes is a Belgian series that launched in October 2020. It is based on discussion groups of Alcoholics Anonymous. The programme was conceived by Émilie Croon, Gaëtan Delferière and Florent Losson. The series is not limited to a single topic; funny voicemails get the spotlight, but also serious topics such as street harassment, misogyny, narcissistic perversity, climate sceptics and serial murder get attention. The series is known for absurd, comic and dark humour. Together with Laurence Bibot and Émilie Croon, Inno JP plays one of the anonymous alcoholics in it.[4][5]
