Locations of Inter County Athletic Schools

The Inter County Athletic Conference is a high school conference in central Illinois, in the United States. The conference participates in athletics and activities in the Illinois High School Association. The conference comprises seven small public high schools and one small private school, with enrollments between 80 and 250 students in Fulton, Knox, Peoria and Tazewell counties.

History

Also known as the ICAC, the Inter County Athletic Conference was founded in 1952 with schools from Brimfield, Glasford, La Fayette, Williamsfield, and Yates City. The five charter members included: Brimfield, Illini Bluffs, La Fayette, Williamsfield, and Yates City High Schools.

During the tenure of the conference, there has been very little change, however, the league added schools from Elmwood and Toulon during the late 1960s. La Fayette consolidated with Toulon in 1970, creating Toulon-LaFayette High School. Toulon-LaFayette would leave the league in 1976 to join the newly formed Lincoln Trail Conference. Additionally, Yates City consolidated with Farmington in 1987, reducing the total number of schools to four, the smallest total for the conference in its existence. Delavan joined the league in 1997, bringing the number of schools back to five. Finally, in 2020, two schools from the Peoria area, Peoria Heights and Peoria Christian, joined the conference.

To combat the issues of low numbers of teams, the ICAC began sharing with other adjacent conferences. Brimfield, Elmwood, Peoria Heights, and Spoon River Valley compete in the ICAC as well as the Prairieland. Delavan and Illini Bluffs also compete in the Tomahawk and Williamsfield the Lincoln Trail.

Currently, the league consists of the following schools: Brimfield, Delavan, Elmwood, Glasford Illini Bluffs, London Mills Spoon River Valley, Peoria Christian, Peoria Heights, and Williamsfield.
