International Beverages Private Limited is a Bangladesh-based company engaged in manufacturing, bottling and distribution of Coca-Cola soft drink brands in Bangladesh. The company was founded on 2015 and it's a 100% owned subsidiary of The Coca Cola Company.

Background[edit]

Coca-Cola had been present in Bangladesh since 1980s, but the drinks were produced by Abdul Monem Limited and Pran-RFL Group mostly. Besides, some additional beverage brands were imported from neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Thailand. Coca Cola has the second highest market share in the Soft Drinks industry of Bangladesh, just behind PepsiCo Bangladesh. The Coca Cola Company announced their plans to enter Bangladesh market on late 2016, and appointed Tapas Kumar Mondal, who's been working in Coca Cola India as Managing Director of their Bangladesh subsidiary. [2] As per announcement, the company is set to invest $74 million in next 3 years including a state-of-art $60 million manufacturing, bottling and distribution hub at Mymensingh region of country. According to the officials, once the factory is fully operational, it can produce around 1500 bottles of beverage per minute employing around 500 people. [3]

As per latest press release, Abdul Monem Limited still operates 2 additional factories in Comilla and Chittagong, and holds the right to manufacture and distribute Coca Cola products in several regions of the country.

Marketing[edit]

International advertising agency Grey Bangladesh is responsible for marketing and advertising of Coca Cola brands in Bangladesh [4]. Several campaigns like 'Search for Lost Bengali Words' and 'Can Happiness Be Recycled' received positive reviews from both critics and general public. [5]
