International Education Corporation
International Education Corporation (IEC) is a system of for-profit colleges that was formed in 1982. [1] The schools have National accreditation.
IEC's brands include UEI College, United Education Institute, Florida Career College, and US Colleges. [2]
Accreditation[edit]
Most of the IEC schools are nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). [3]
Leadership[edit]
The CEO of International Education Corporation is Fardad Fateri. Fateri is also a commissioner with ACICS.[4] and a former chief academic officer at Corinthian Colleges. [5]
History[edit]
IEC was previously owned by Palm Ventures. [6]
In 2014, IEC bought Florida Career College from the bankrupt Education Training Corporation. The school had been under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2001 to 2007, when it was raided by undercover agents, but no criminal charges were filed. [7]
In 2016, IEC's subsidiary, UEI College, was highlighted as a low quality college that was able to avoid suits by using mandatory arbitration. [8] The school was also mentioned in Degrees of Deception: America's For-Profit Higher Education Fraud by Kevin W. Connell. [9]
In 2018, student veterans who enrolled at Florida Career College said they were not warned that the school was in danger of losing its GI Bill funding eligibility. Florida Career College lost its GI Bill funding after it was decertified by the state certifying agency in June 2018. [10]
