The International forum on cultural placemaking & the night-time economy in world cities was held in the Imperial Examination Museum Of China in Nanjing. The event took place on Nov 24th and 25th, 2020.It was a series of activities of World Cities Cultural Forum,WCCF.[1]

With the theme of "Culture Creates Urban Space", the forum conducted a comprehensive discussion on the topic of "Night Economy - New Opportunities for Economic Recovery after the Epidemic".

At least 16 world cities joined the event, in both online and offline forms.More than 100 well-known Chinese and foreign scholars, industry experts and government officials participated in forum to discuss countermeasures for urban economic development in the epidemic era.[2][3][4] [5]

At the forum, the organizer released the analysis report "Creating a Thriving and Healthy Night Economy: Important Cultural Indicators of World Cities",which was researched and compiled by Burns Owens Partnership Ltd Guangzhou Iimedia Data Corp.,Ltd.[6]The report pointed out that ,under the new normal of the epidemic, there are both opportunities and challenges for economic development at night.The challenge is that cities are locked down, cultural activities are restricted by regulation, and existing business models are unsustainable. Opportunities are the onlineization of cultural consumption, the transformation of online electronic cultural spaces, scenarios, and methods, which provide new consumption growth points for the urban nighttime economy.

This report contributes to the assessment and development of the night economy in cities around the world
