InvestBulgaria Agency

InvestBulgaria Agency - IBA is an Executive agency at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria. In March 1995, the Foreign Investment Agency was established and in 2004 the agency was transformed into the current InvestBulgaria Agency[1]. The main activities of the Agency are attracting and supporting investments, active participation in the development of the Government Strategy for Investment Promotion and implementation of the state policy in the field of investments. In 2019[2], IBA was elected part of the new Steering Committee of WAIPA[3] and for the Regional Director for Eastern Europe[4].

Mission

Invest Bulgaria agency is a government organization, established to support investments to Bulgaria, to assist project set-up, and to ensure successful project development resulting in new jobs, exports, and know-how transfer for the Bulgarian economy. IBA helps potential and existing investors explore the investment opportunities in Bulgaria and carry out greenfield investment projects in the country.

Activities

InvestBulgaria supports investor services during the whole investment research by providing:

  • full information assistance;
  • locations for investment;
  • organizing study visits on site;
  • administrative assistance in registration;
  • obtaining permits from other government agencies;
  • legal councils;
  • finding partners, subcontractors, and suppliers;
  • investment incentives;
  • business infrastructure development;
  • care for existing investors.

InvestBulgaria Agency provides all services free of charge.

According to the Investment Promotion Act (IPA), the sectors served by the agency include: mechanical engineering, manufacturing, information technology, business process outsourcing, chemical, balneology, electrical engineering and electronics, food and agriculture (secondary production), healthcare and medical tourism, transport and logistics.
