Iqbal Ahmad(1947 - 2025) was an IAS officer of 1974 batch of Madhya Pradesh Cadre. During his long civil service career, he served the Madhya Pradesh Government before and after his retirement time: December 2007.[1][2]
Early life
Iqbal Ahamd was born in 1947 at Lar Deoria Uttar Pradesh. He received his early education in his native town in Deoria. He studied at Allahabad University, completed his bachelor degree with subjects in Arts Social Science but not judicial subjects, and qualified the IAS examination in 1974 with allotment of Madhya Pradesh Cadre.[1][3]
Career
Iqbal Ahmad served as DM position in the 1980s including at Sehore district(1980-1983) prior to working as low-level district administrators in the allotted cadre Madhya Pradesh.[4] During early 1990s he was appointed as Commissioner of Indore division in Madhya Pradesh. [1] After that he was posted in the state capital Bhopal that houses the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and the secretariat of the state government. Iqbal Ahmad handled the administrateive responsibilities of many departments, i.e., Principal Secretary Revenue, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Urban Administration Development under the state government. [5][6]
Later Agriculture Production Commissioner Iqbal Ahmed was promoted to Additional Chief Secretary rank, posting order of which was issued by the Madhya Pradesh government; he was shifted to the State Finance Commission as a member (2007).[7] He retired on Dec 32, 2007 from the aforementioned posts. After retirement , the Madhya Pradesh government made him Information commissioner and later elevated him as Chief Information Commissioner in the state (2012).[8]
Death
Iqbal Ahmad died on 09 May 2025 and was buried in Jahangirabad Karastan, Bhopal.[1]
