Iran Paak Party (Persian: حزب پاک - pronounced Hezb e Paak), an Iranian political party active during the 1990s and 2000s. It started its informal activity with a number of young Iranian engineers (the only permitted activities in those days were environmental activities such as clearing some of the Caspian Sea coast in 1995 and 1996, and some mountains around Tehran in 1994). After the 1997 Iranian presidential election, on June 2nd 1997, the Paak party, as an independent party, applied for permission from the 10th Party Committee of the Ministry of the Interior and finally received official approval from the Ministry of Interior after about four years in Iran.
One of the important activities of this party, which had many internal and external repercussions, was to invite its supporters to hold a candle and flower ceremony in Mohseni Square in Tehran (Mother Square) after the September 11 attacks, which resulted in the arrest of some of its supporters, in addition to positive international repercussions. [1] It was intended to show Iranian people's sympathy and counter the prevailing pro-Western sentiment of that day.
The secretary general of this party, Bijan Esmaeilzadeh, has published some of his party's positions in the form of articles, interviews with domestic and foreign media, and party statements. [2]
