Irving Tobocman (1933-2017) was a prolific and well known architect centered in the midwest but known around the world[1], with the highest concentration of buildings being in West Bloomfield, and Birmingham, Michigan. His architectural designs served residents from many income levels from modest 1,700 sq ft houses up to 18,000 sq ft sprawling lakefront properties.[2]

With an education culminating in a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Michigan in 1956, Tobocman's early projects included a set of apartment buildings in Southfield, MI and expanded into other commercial, religious, and residential structures.[3]

Tobocman died in a car accident on November 10th, 2017 while driving his 2004 Thunderbird across the intersection of northbound Telegraph Highway on Lone Pine road, impacted by a female minor who ran a red light. His remains are located in Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale, MI.[4]
