Irys formerly CityFlag[1], is an American technology company based in San Antonio, Texas.[2] The company is known for developing artificial intelligence (AI) driven real-time data analytics tools and civic community applications for urban stakeholders, including engineering, design, and architecture firms.[3][4] [5]

In 2019, the company was awarded the Smart 50 Award by the Smart Cities Connect Foundation.[6]

Formation and services[edit]

In 2017, the company was founded as CityFlag Inc. by entrepreneur Beto Altamirano, Alberto Gomez and Eduardo Bravo. In 2020, the company rebranded to Irys. In August 2018, the company developed and released an app "The 311SA" for The city of San Antonio, which revamped its 311 system.[4] "The 311SA" cellphone app enabled residents of the city of San Antonio to file report regarding the municipal issues to the city council seamlessly. Irys has raised $1.2M in funding rounds led by Good Growth Capital.[7] In 2020, Irys expanded their services to military bases and commercial areas.[8]

In 2020, Irys has partnered with AFWERX, a United States Air Force program to expand development of community engagement technologies in the military sector, which comprising active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, Air Force Civilian Service and contractor personnel.[9]
