Isom Charles Butler (born October 12, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA).

High school career[edit]

Butler played his first two season of high school basketball at Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California.[1] Butler transferred to Centennial High School in Corona, California and averaged 13 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals per game.[2] He scored 20 points in a December 26, 2016 win against Mission Hills Alemany, 70-50.[3] He helped Centennial reach the CIF Regional title game.[4] He received First-Team All-League and First-Team All-Defense recognition, and was named Defensive Player of the League.[2] Butler was a All-Area Honorable Mention selection.[5] He was a 2017 McDonald's All-American nominee.[6] Butler competed for Team Elite in AAU play. He was offered a scholarship to Cal State Bakersfield.[2] Butler did not play in the 2017-18 season as he reclassified to the class of 2018.[7]

Professional career[edit]

Instead of going to college, Butler was chosen to join the Atlanta Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA).[2][7] In an article in FluurySports, he was selected as a player to watch in the JBA, with the comment that "Butler is a scrappy guard that loves to play quickly. He has a solid jump shot that allows him to get to the lane easier than other players in the league."[8] In the JBA's debut game on June 21, 2018, Butler recorded 12 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks in a 126–117 win over the Chicago Ballers.[9] He was named to the East roster for the JBA All-Star Game.[10]
