Issa Monnie[edit]

Abu Issa Monnie joined TV3 Ghana in 1997 as the first male newscaster. He joined the station as a part-time newscaster. Before then, he worked as a radio news editor. One of the major peaks in this position was his supervisory role in the coverage of Ghana's elections in the year 2000. His success in this led to a similar task uptake at the 2004, 2008 and the much talked about 2012 Ghanaian general elections.[1] Issa Monnie is the Chief News Editor at Peace 104.3 FM, a local radio station. Born into a family of 19 children, Issa's family faced financial challenges. He therefore made good use of his free school periods by selling news papers in the mornings.[2]

Education[edit]

Issa has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and a Post Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy.[1]

Awards[edit]

Issa Monnie was awarded the 2015 Best Television Male Newscaster and adjudged Best Radio News Editor in 2011 by organizers of the Radio and Television Personality Award (RTP). He wrote his first book, “Media Freedoms and Laws”, and published it in 2014.[1]
